Well its been a while...
Well ok more like almost 2 years in fact since I last posted anything. Well like my first post said, it wont be the last and I wont let it be. Finally think I can get this blog into a regular rhythm and by that I mean at least 1 post a week. Ive got a number of NWN2 projects I want to get underway (Ive purged the demons of MMO's from my system, thank you oh hideous pile of otyugh dung that is SWTOR, and the more alluring GW2 for curing that itch) and theirs no time like the present to start what I should have started years back.
But first i'll start by blinging this place up over the next few days, just like how I originally wanted with a proper title image and a few other graphical flourishes here and there. If I could remember html I could go better but ive decided to just keep it simple.
Ill also probably change the blogs url in the coming week since ive put the idea of a Planescape themed NWN2 campaign on hiatus and think I would find it much easier to simply concentrate on smaller themed projects with a little more broad scope such as new monster packs, tilesets, weapon packs and the like.
Im also gonna try and get my presence on the Bioware Boards up more.
So heres to getting underway... err again -fingers crossed- what?

The Magic of GUI...
by
BigfootNZ
Their mysteries are now revealed to me... and I like what I see. Up until recently I was pretty clueless about GUI's in NWN2, sure I could fiddle with (Oooo Errr!) existing ones and move things around and change only minor aspects but now ive finally understood how to work the meat and potatoes (Oooo Errrr!) of them... ie Variables and their ilk along with GUI to module and vice versa events.
All I can say is the possibilities are endless really. And first up in my adventures is a Custom Polymorph Spell GUI... talk about jumping in head first. After finding out that the Polymorph forms no longer have abilities tied to them I got rather annoyed. "Why Obsidian why!" I cried, "Why F me around with all those neat Polymorph based spells ive been adding to my Mod!". After getting angry I eventually got around to thinking... how can I fix this. Well with a few GUIs that is...

Of Ups and Downs, 2da's and SoZ
by
BigfootNZ
Well, not much has happened the last... ouch month almost. So far this Blogs having quite a hard time getting of the ground. Im not the blogger type, and a little lazy in such things.
With RL issues intervening time has been at a little of a premium, I finally got my hands on 'Storm of Zehir' last week and must admit its not to shabby so ive been frantically getting all my 2da files updated to comply with that expansion... thankfully SoZ didnt alter all that many of them from MotB so it wasn't so much of a scary job. SoZ itself is an odd beast, while i find its lack of story annoying, I find it more engaging than MotB. This could be partly due to the Caravan system... sure its simple but im a stickler for micro managment.
Its dawned on me that my design of Bloodwar is ripe for feature creep truth be told, its the old hairy chestnut of will I need this or that, and there isnt any harm in including these. It plagues us all... thats what you get from not having a clear goal to begin with. Ive poored through dozens of 3.0 and 3.5 edition manuals for the last 4 months stripping ever prestige class and spell I could find that was workable, rewriting components where required to work within the engine, and incorporating them all into my TLK and 2das... still have feats to go.
